Winning & Losing Trades

Definition From Rob’s education: a winning position looks like a 2 in your favor, a 3 in your favor, and full timeframe continuity in your favor. A losing position looks like getting chopped up during a scenario 1, a 2 against you, a 2 going 3 against you, and FTFC against you. Learn the shapes and you can read any open trade at a glance.

Every trade you will ever have on resolves into one of these pictures. This page is about recognizing which picture you are in while it is still cheap to act on it.

Losing positions

1. Chopped up during a scenario 1

A 1 is equilibrium: nothing broke, so there is nothing to follow through on. Trade inside it and the range takes your entry right back: in and out inside the same bar, with the motherbar’s high and low untouched above and below you.

Losing position #1 — chopped up during a scenario 1: two tickets, two stop-outs, and the motherbar’s high and low never break Losing position #1 — chopped up during a scenario 1 motherbar high 106.00 motherbar low 93.00 motherbar the 1 · inside BUY 104.80 × 100 filled 104.80 STOP 103.80 STOPPED — −$100 BUY 103.60 × 100 filled 103.60 STOP 102.60 STOPPED — −$100 the motherbar sets the range 93.00 – 106.00, and the next bar opens inside it: a scenario 1 you buy 104.80 and the stop goes straight on at 103.80 — 100 shares, $100 of risk the range takes it back: stopped 103.80 for −$100, inside the SAME bar …and again: −$100. Chopped twice for −$200, and neither 106.00 nor 93.00 ever broke a 1 is equilibrium: nothing broke, so there was never anything to follow through TheStrat.AI
Two tickets and two stop-outs inside the same bar. The bar is a 1: the motherbar’s high and low mark the range that has to give, and neither of them broke.

2. A 2 against you

You bought a dip, and then the prior bar’s low broke. The bar is a 2d: directional evidence against you, and price must trade in the direction of the most 2s. It keeps going and takes the stop.

Losing position #2 — a 2 against you: you buy the dip just above the prior bar’s low, the low breaks, and the 2d does not negotiate Losing position #2 — a 2 against you prior bar’s low 98.50 prior bar’s high 103.00 prior bar 2d BUY 99.00 × 100 filled 99.00 STOP 98.00 STOPPED — −$100 the prior bar’s low is 98.50 — that is the level this bar has to defend you buy the dip at 99.00, stop 98.00 just under it — 100 shares, $100 of risk 98.50 gives way, the bar is a 2d, and the stop trades: −$100 and it keeps going to 95.90 — the stop was the cheap part of being on the wrong side of a 2 price must trade in the direction of the most 2s; the tight stop is what kept this to $100 TheStrat.AI
Buying the dip just above the prior bar’s low, then the low breaks: a 2d. The high never takes 103.00, so this is a clean 2d and not a 3, and a 2 against you does not negotiate.

3. A 2 going 3 against you

You bought a green 2u breakout. Then it flipped red, and a 2u trading red is a 2 going 3: the rejection shows in the color first, and it counts toward the other direction. The 3 completes at the prior bar’s low, exactly where your stop was.

Losing position #3 — a 2 going 3 against you: the 2u flips red, stops you out, and then completes the 3 through the prior bar’s low Losing position #3 — a 2 going 3 against you prior bar’s high 104.00 prior bar’s low 97.00 prior bar 2u → 3 BUY 105.50 × 100 filled 105.50 STOP 104.50 STOPPED — −$100 the prior bar runs 97.00 to 104.00 — those are the two levels that matter the bar takes 104.00: a 2u you buy the breakout at 105.50, stop 104.50 back under the level — 100 shares it trades back under its own open — a 2u trading RED is a 2 going 3 — and you are out: −$100 then the 3 completes at 97.00. Being on the wrong side of that without the stop is how accounts die the rejection showed in the color first; the break of the low only confirmed it TheStrat.AI
The 2u breaks out green, trades back under its own open (the 2 going 3) and takes the stop. Then it completes the 3 through the prior bar’s low.

4. FTFC against you

This is the worst one. You shorted a 60-minute 2u-2d reversal, a legitimate signal, but then price reclaimed the day open, the week open, and the month open: full timeframe continuity up, every participation group and every algorithm against the position. On the tape below (real data, MU, June 2026) the short triggers at 910.00 with the stop at the 2u’s high, 957.48. The stop is taken on Thursday afternoon, and that is the cheap part. Price keeps going through the week open, then the month open, and by Monday it has gapped to 1055.99: the signal was fine, the continuity was not.

Losing position #4 — FTFC against you. MU, Friday June 12 2026: a few hours into the day the 60-minute prints a 2u and the next hour takes its low, so the 2u-2d short triggers at 995.00 with the stop at the high of the day, 1012.62. It works into the close, but the day and the week are green underneath it — and Monday opens at 1055.99, straight through the stop Losing position #4 — FTFC against you: the short works, then Monday opens SHORT 995.00 × 100 · STOP 1012.62 (HOD) STOPPED on the gap — −$6,099 FTFC UP — all four above their opens Month June open 1009.72 June Week week open 938.26 Jun 8 Jun 15 Day Friday, then Monday Fri 06/12 Mon 06/15 60-minute the 2u-2d a few hours in — and the open that undid it week open 938.26 month open 1009.72 1 2u 1 1 2u 2d 2d 2u 1 2u 2u 2d 2u 1 Fri 06/12 Mon 06/15 high of day 1012.62 Friday. A few hours in, the 60 prints a 2u and the next hour takes its low: a 2u-2d reversal you short 995.00, stop at the high of the day 1012.62 — $1,762 of planned risk on 100 shares and it works: the last hour is another 2d, and Friday closes 980.71 with the short in profit but the day and the week were GREEN underneath it the whole time — and Monday opens 1055.99, straight through the stop no fill anywhere near 1012.62: −$6,099 on a $1,762 stop, and month, week, day and 60 are now all above their opens real data, MU June 12–15 2026 · all four timeframes aggregated from the same 15-minute stream · each panel on its own scale TheStrat.AI
MU, Friday June 12 2026 into Monday, on all four timeframes. A few hours into Friday the 60-minute prints a 2u and the next hour takes its low, so the short goes on at 995.00 with the stop at the high of the day. It works into the close, but the day and the week were green underneath it, and Monday opens at 1055.99, straight through the stop.

Winning positions

1. 2s in your favor

You buy the break of the prior high and the 2s keep printing your way: 2u, 2u, 2u. Each new break re-confirms the trade. There is nothing to manage except the adds.

Winning position #1 — 2s in your favor: bought the break of 102.00, and every bar since has taken the last one’s high Winning position #1 — 2s in your favor entry trigger 102.00 this bar’s trigger 107.60 2u 2u 2u 2u BUY 102.10 × 100 STOP 101.10 you bought 102.10 with the stop at 101.10, and the evidence keeps arriving: 2u, then 2u and again — this bar takes 107.60. The stop was never threatened: +$810 open on 100 shares each new 2u re-confirms the trade — there is nothing to manage except the adds TheStrat.AI
Buy the trigger, and the evidence keeps arriving: 2u after 2u after 2u: the most 2s pointing your way, and the stop never threatened.

2. A 3 in your favor

The bar takes the prior low but trades green. A 2d trading green is a failed break with the sellers trapped below, and it counts toward up. You buy it, and the bar completes the 3 through the prior high: both sides fought, your side won.

Winning position #2 — a 3 in your favor: the 2d fails, you buy the reclaim, and the bar completes through the prior high Winning position #2 — a 3 in your favor prior bar’s low 98.00 prior bar’s high 103.00 prior bar 2d → 3 BUY 98.60 × 100 STOP 97.60 the prior bar runs 98.00 to 103.00, and this one opens just under the low it takes 98.00: a 2d — the break down is on but it trades back GREEN: a failed break, sellers trapped below. You buy the reclaim 98.60, stop 97.60 under the low and it completes the 3 through 103.00 — both sides fought, your side won: +$520 open a 2d trading green counts toward UP — the color is the evidence TheStrat.AI
Buy the reclaim of the failed 2d (the sellers below are trapped), and the bar completes a 3 through the prior high: the whole range resolved in your favor.

3. FTFC in your favor

This is the best one. On the tape below (real data, MU weekly, spring 2026), two 2d weeks pull back into the March low and the second closes green. You buy the 2d-2u weekly reversal at 377.89, and continuity swings behind you across four timeframes: the week, the month, the quarter, and the year all green. Five straight 2u weeks, 373 to 747.

Winning position #3 — FTFC in your favor. MU, spring 2026, on all four timeframes: two 2d weeks pull back and the second closes green, the break of its high at 377.89 triggers the weekly 2d-2u reversal, and the week, month, quarter and year candles are all green together for five straight 2u weeks — 373.80 to 747.21 Winning position #3 — FTFC in your favor: the same run, on all four timeframes Year 2026 open 295.12 2025 2026 Quarter Q2 open 348.90 Q1 Q2 Month March closed RED, then April flips it Mar Apr May Week 2d-2u reversal, trigger 377.89 — then five 2u weeks every fill in these five weeks BUY 377.89 × 100 · STOP 364.00 +$36,892 open · stop never touched 2u 2d 2d 2u 2u 2u 2u 2u two 2d weeks pull back into the March low, and the second closes GREEN — the sellers lost it. March closed red on the month, but the year and the quarter never went red 377.89 breaks: the weekly 2d-2u reversal triggers — and April has just opened a fresh month and a fresh quarter week, month, quarter and year are now green together — full timeframe continuity up, and every group is on your side the stop sits just under the entry week’s low at 364.00 — Tuesday traded 364.10 and tested it, then never came back 2u, 2u, 2u, 2u, 2u — 373.80 to 747.21 in five weeks. That is what FTFC in your favor looks like real data, MU · all four timeframes aggregated from the same daily stream · each panel on its own scale · a candle is green while price is above that timeframe’s open TheStrat.AI
MU, spring 2026, on all four timeframes. The green 2d week’s high, 377.89, is the trigger and the stop sits just under the entry week’s low. April opens a fresh month and a fresh quarter, and week, month, quarter and year run green together for five straight 2u weeks.

The read

Rule: name the picture you are in, out loud. “I am long and this bar is a 2d” is a different trade than “I am long and this bar is a 2u”, even at the same price. The losing shapes all share one thing: the evidence stopped being yours. The winning shapes all share the opposite. Act on the shape, not on the P&L (see the trade checklist and stop-losses).
